The gentle arch of the marble fireplace surround
is echoed in the lighted display case on each side. A prominent mantle with brackets that are
supportive, yet decorative, rests above the fireplace. The wood is painted a soft off-white to
complement the neutral decor of the room.

The recurrent motif of the gentle arch is again
present in the kitchen interior of the home. The arched door frames of the kitchen cabinets,
made of red birch, have a beveled glass front with soft fabric tucked neatly behind to conceal
the cabinet's contents. The highly figured granite counter tops provide a rich complement to the
wood and fabric.

As in all of our kitchen designs, cabinet side panels and appliance panels are fabricated
to match the door design.

Oak cabinets with concealed European hinges and solid brass hardware are featured
in this traditional kitchen with contemporary touches. The Corian counter top is
finished with a coved backsplash and a decorative waterfall edge, indicative of the
versatility and beauty achieved with Corian.

The galley style kitchen is made of red birch with bubinga inlays. The finish is left
natural to enhance the beauty of the wood while emphasizing the stunning contrast
of the warm birch tone with the deep red color of the exotic bubinga.

The dramatic ceiling and the exquisite art glass are beautifully complemented by the rich
brown tone of the oak millwork. The built-in cabinetry is made of white oak with raised bubinga
inlays.

Attention to detail and an understated elegance are the hallmarks of this unique staircase.
It is made of white oak with bubinga accents and spans three floors of this Prairie style home.
All of the wood components of the staircase were fabricated in our facility and then assembled on-site
by Der Holtzmacher, Ltd.

This Eastlake style kitchen, one phase of the restoration of an 1880's home, was designed by Der Holtzmacher, Ltd. based on the architectural
precepts of the Nineteenth Century writer and architect, Charles Eastlake. It is made of cherry
with carpithian elm veneers and has a rich lustrous red-brown finish. The curved doors, convex
at the exterior corners and concave at the interior corners, create a sense of fluid motion along the
length of the cabinetry. The prominent, hand-crafted solid bronze hardware is typical of the
era. Faithful to the tenet that form follows function, the kitchen is efficient and inviting
yet embraces the aesthetic element of the design.

Phase two of the renovation project created a unique challenge: To transform a small existing
bathroom into a spacious area complete with his and her vanities and a whirlpool bathtub.
The two vanities, facing one another on opposite sides of the room, reflect the stylistic preferences
and individual needs of the husband and wife. His is bolder and heavier in line, hers is lighter
and more delicate with greater attention to detail. Each of the vanities incorporates carpithian elm
burl in the doors.

To connect the bathroom with a hide-a-way loft area one floor above, we designed, fabricated, and
assembled on-site this multi-level staircase made of oak with painted burgundy accents. The
influence of the Eastlake style is again evident in the use of chamfers on the spindles and the
shallow, ornamental carvings on the stringer. The staircase is not stained but varnished only,
allowing the natural grain and color to be revealed.
